
Kenya is popularly known for dominating both women and men's track and long-distance races over the years. It is a hotbed of talent.
However, some of the most successful athletes from Kenya are also couples whereby they live, grain and win together.

Mary Keitany and Charles Koech
Mary Keitany and Charles Koech tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2011 and the two are blessed with two children.
Although Koech didn't become successful as an athlete, he has played a major part in making his wife one of the stylish long distance runners of all time.
Mary Keitany is the holder of the world marathon record in a women-only race and retired in September 2021.
Edna Kiplagat and Gilbert Koech
Gilbert Koech and Edna Kiplagat met in the late 90s when they were just novices trying to find their way into the athletics world.
Both have featured in road races before where Koech stepped up to full marathon, making his debut in Las Vegas before he returned to win the San Antonio Marathon in 2009.
His wife Edna also returned to the race after giving birth, going ahead to win the Los Angeles Marathon in 2010.
Her next race was at the 2010 New York City Marathon as well.
Vivian Cheruiyot and Moses Kiplagat
Four- time World champion Vivian Cheruiyot and Moses Kiplagat, former Prisons athletics track star, have been married since 2011.
Both athletes have had happy moments on the track. However Kiplagat has not been as successful as the wife.
Kiplagat has played a major part in Cheruiyot’s career, acting as her trainer and helping her bag various medals in her career.
Asbel Kiprop and Sammary Cherotich
Olympic and 1500 World champion Asbel Kiprop is one of the most accomplished middle distance runners Kenya has ever produced.
Kiprop's wife , Sammary Cherotich, is a former 3,000m gold medallist at the 2007 IAAF World Youth Athletics Championships in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.
Paul Lonyangata and Purity Rionoripo
Paul Lonyangata and Purity Rionoripoare, one of the successful couples in the athletic scene where in a past Paris Marathon both emerged victorious in their respective races.
The two who met at an early age and have one notable thing - they both train together in Iten.
