Despite retiring from football, Denis Oliech remains the highest-paid player in the Kenyan Premier League history. Before quitting football for the second time, he earned a whopping $2,641 monthly salary as a Gor Mahia player. Oliech, famously known as the Menace, is also a legend of Kenyan football.

Omar Moussa – Ksh. 260,000 ($2,288)
Omar Moussa played for Sofapaka as a defender and was rewarded with a heavy paycheque. The Rwanda-born defender is the second-highest-paid in Kenyan Premier League player in history. The 24-year-old took home a cheque worth $2,288 per month.
Jacques Tuyisenge – Ksh. 230,000 ($2,024)
Former Gor Mahia striker Tuyisenge also makes ranks among top earners in KPL history. Even though he is not the most expensive footballer in Kenya Premier League. His monthly salary was estimated at $2,024. The 30-year-old striker currently plays for APR Football Club in Rwanda.
Wayi Yeka – Ksh. 200,000 ($1,760)
Wayi Yeka is among the most talented footballers to ever grace the Kenya Premier League. The DR Congo international forward made a fortune while at AFC Leopards taking home a whopping $1,760 a month.
Shafik Batambuze – Ksh. 180,000 ($1,584)
The Ugandan international left Gor Mahia to join the Zambian club Kabwe Warriors in 2021. Batambuze took home over $1,584 per month at Gor, thus entering the list of top earners of all time in the Kenyan league.
Even though many Kenyan footballers dream of earning more, it is always a long journey to reaching those heights. Most teams in the league delay players' salaries, hence derailing the development of players and football progress in the country.
