Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann, has revealed he received 450 death threats on social media following the club's exit from the Champions League.

On Tuesday, April 12, Bayern were knocked out at the quarter-final stage after losing to Villarreal on aggregate goal.

The Bayern coach revealed that since the team's exit in the Champions League he has received abuse on Instagram with some being directed towards his mother.

"I know I will always get criticism from all sides - that's normal and I can deal with it. But with 450 death threats on Instagram, it's not so easy.

“If people want to kill me, that's one thing, but they also attack my own mother who doesn't even care about football. I don't understand it. As soon as they turn off the TV, people forget all decency. And they think they are the ones on the right. That's the crazy thing," Nagelsmann stated.

The 34-year-old German noted that it is not the first time he received such threats.

"I get them after every single game, regardless of whether we win or lose. There are more death threats when we play with a back three than when we play with a back four, and obviously, a few more whenever we lose."

Bayer Munich are currently leading the Bundesliga nine points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund as they target a tenth consecutive league championship.

Bayern, after being eliminated from the Champions League, have only one chance of lifting silverware this season.

The Bavarian side will be playing against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday, April 17, as they seek to extend their gap in the League.
