
Ferdinand Omanyala set a new record in the 100m and 200m double at the International Castiglione Athletic Meeting at Zecchini Stadium in Grosseto, Italy on Sunday, May 22.
The African record holder ran a new record of 10.11secs, which was below his current record but enough to earn him a new Meet Record.
His 10.11s record breaks the previous 10.31secs mark held by Olympic Champion Marcel Jacobs.

The 2022 Italy's Meet Competition was a World Athletics Continental warm-up event.
Omanyala's closest competitor was Ivorian Arthur Cisse, who finished the cut-throat short race at 10.14 seconds.
Additionally, the 26-year-old clinched another victory in the 200m race where he clocked 20.50secs to emerge second to Sri Lanka's Yupun Abeykoon won the race with a 20.37 seconds Meet Record.
The 200m Kenyan record holder remains Calvin Nkanata'st 20.15 seconds set in 2015.
For Omanyala it's an intense training period ahead of the African Championships to be staged in Mauritius and Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
After Italy, the Kenyan sprint sensation will head to Germany for more build-up races before heading to the Czech Republic for the Ostrava Golden Spike on May 31.
Should the University of Nairobi chemistry student win in Mauritius, he will be elevated from the African record holder to the coveted African Champion title.
Omanyala won the Kip Keino Classic in a 9.85 at Kasarani stadium earning him the African Record Holder tag.
