This move comes one year after the player collapsed while representing his nation in the 2020 Euros. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest which left him and the world at large doubting the possibility of him playing football again.
A Danish team doctor, who was part of the technical staff during the incident, recalled the nightmare remarking that Eriksen almost died before he was attended to.
"He was gone, and we did cardiac resuscitation. It was a cardiac arrest,” the doctor who attended to him told ESPN. The player was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator to help him avoid cardiac arrests.
Eriksen joined EPL side Brentford in January this year keeping his hopes of playing football alive. Prior to this move, he was without a club for months after Inter Milan released him due his inability to play.
In his stint at Brentford, the soccer star managed to score one goal in 11 appearances, which came during a match against London rivals Chelsea. However, he played a crucial role in the season, which culminated in Brentford's Thirteenth place finish in the league.
Prior to his cardiac arrest, Eriksen was an Inter Milan player from 2020 when he joined the Italian side from Tottenham.
However, the highlight of his football career was during his stint with Tottenham Hotspurs where he exhibited his prowess as a creative midfielder. He was a key player in the London club and his national team as well, managing to score 51 goals.
Focus now shifts to the 30-year-old midfielder, as he hopes to revamp his old self at Manchester United. Manchester are in a transition period with a new manager in place. United appointed Eric Ten Hag as their new manager in a bid to revive the club’s lost glory.
