Record Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC have sacked head coach Andreas Spiers after the expiry of his six-month contract.

In a statement released by Gor Mahia’s secretary-general Sam Ocholla, the club’s committee decided not to extend the German's contract.

“We can confirm that we have mutually parted ways with head coach Andreas Spiers. His contract ended and we are now in the market for a new coach. We wish him well,” the club posted on Twitter.

“We refer to the agreement dated 22nd February 22 between Gor Mahia FC and yourself for the position of the head coach.

“Following the expiry of the agreement on 30th June 22, the club Executive Committee has decided that it will not be extending your contract,” part of the statement read.

Spiers joined Gor Mahia earlier this year replacing Britain’s Max Harrison who was shown the door after a run of poor performances. He helped Gor Mahia finish third behind defending champions Tusker and Homeboyz second.
