Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has explained the system he plans to adopt with his new team.
Ten Hag joined United after Ralf Rangnick who served on an interim basis at United parted ways with the club after the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season.
Speaking to Manchester United TV the Dutch manager noted that he would want his team to press its opponents.

“We want to play a proactive style of football on the ball and off the ball. Trying to do that has to be our intention. The coaches bring it over to the team that we are, in every situation, proactive.
“We are brave and willing to have the ball, to give each other options. But also, off the ball, to get the pressing style is what we’re working for together,” Ten Hag noted.
His system has similarities to philosophies Rangnick tried to implement at Old Trafford but to no avail. United finished seventh in the league, three spots below the Champions League qualification spot.
Ten Hag is expected to help United get back to the old glory days where they dominated the league, however, it won't happen instantly. He first has to reunite the dressing room, win over the fans and balance the hectic EPL and Europa League fixtures.
United flew to Thailand for their pre-season tour with their first match lined up against Liverpool on Tuesday, July 12.
Ten Hag showered praise on his players, noting that the pre-season will help his staff and the squad bond.
“I think, one of the biggest advantages of the tour is that we have two weeks to work really close together. We will learn about each other because I want to learn about them and they want to learn about me, my coaches and assistants,” he added.
