Chelsea Target Accepts Bayern Offer

Chelsea is set to miss another marquee signing after reports indicated that Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has agreed to join Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich. 

de Ligt who plays for Serie A giants, Juventus, was reported to have agreed on personal terms with Bayern. 

The transfer had dragged on as the two clubs have not yet agreed on a transfer fee.

Chelsea is looking to bolster its defence after centre backs Antonio Rudiger and Christensen joined Real Madrid and Barcelona on free transfers, respectively. 

de Ligt was among the top priority transfers on Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel's list. The German coach is eying Manchester City's Nathan Ake and Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly as other options. 

Chelsea is rushing to seal its transfers after missing out on Leeds winger Raphina who is poised to join Barcelona who are also keen on renewing the contract of French winger Ousmane Dembele who was also scouted by the English club. 

The Blues have also been linked with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandoski who is angling a move to Barcelona. 

Todd Boehley, the new Chelsea owner, took charge of transfer business after former director Marina Granovskaia left the club. 

Despite the low transfer activities at Stamford Bridge, it's expected that Chelsea will add six new signings to their squad. 

Chelsea players are currently in Los Angeles, US for their pre-season tour. Midfielders  N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek missed out on the trip as they were allowed to proceed on vacation.  

The 2022/2023 Premie League season is set to kick off on August 5, with the transfer window coming to an end on August 31. 

Chelsea will face Everton, Totttenham, Leeds and Leicester City in its first four fixtures.
