New details have emerged on how Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp showed respect and loyalty to his assistant Pepijn Lijnders in a 2016 incident.
Lijnders revealed that Klopp presented to him a letter containing a job application from a top manager for the assistant manager role two months after his arrival.
Liverpool's number two noted that his boss knew the content of the letter despite him asking for some assistance.
"It was when he (Klopp) came with a letter to my desk, about six years ago – probably two months after he had arrived. He asked me to read it because he did not understand it, so I started reading and I told him it was from a coach who said he wanted to work with him, to help him on the pitch and assist.

“So basically, he wants your job?’ the boss asked. He took the letter, tore it apart, threw it in the bin in front of me and turned around and walked away without saying anything.
“Of course, he understood the letter. He did not need to do that. But that was the moment I knew we would work together for a long time and I would help him with all I have got to become the most successful manager he could be at Liverpool Football Club,” Lijnders noted.
The 29-year-old Dutch manager at Anfield as the assistant since 2018 and has seen Liverpool lift the Champions League, Super Cup, Premier League, Fa Cup, Carabao Cup and recently the Community Shield.
Lijnders is set to launch his book 'Intensity' on August 4 ahead of the new 2022/2023 Premier League season.
The book is expected to give the supporters first-hand insight into everything from Liverpool's training to tactics and team talks.
