
Eliud Kipchoge and Nancy Jelagat headline the 2022 BMW Berlin marathon slated for Sunday, September 25 in Germany.
Kipchoge will be returning to the city where he set the current marathon world record of 2:01.39 back in 2019.
The 37-year-old will line up against an elite field that includes the Ethiopian trio of Guye Adola, Dejene Debela and Tadu Abate.

Adola won the 2021 edition in an impressive fashion reaching the tape in 2:05.45 ahead of Kenya’s Bethwel Yegon and former 5,000m record holder Kenenisa Bekele.
Yegon and Bekele crossed the finishing line in 2:06.14 and 2:06.47 respectively in a race that Kipchoge did not grace.
In the women’s category, 2021 Valencia Marathon champion Nancy Jelagat Meto will square it out with the likes of Ethiopia’s Gutemi Shone Imana and United States’ Keira D’Amoto.
D’Amoto is the fastest woman going into the race, with a personal best of 2:19.12 which she set on January 15 at the Houston Marathon in Texas.

Meto who boosts of a personal best of 2:19.31 will be joined by other three Kenyans in that race including Maurine Chepkemoi, Rosemary Wanjiru, and Vivian Chepkirui.
Wanjiru, a 2015 African Games silver medalist will be making her full marathon debut in Berlin.
