
World football governing body FIFA has announced its latest global ranking of different countries ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The October 2022 edition of FIFA World Ranking saw Scotland, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Georgia, Mauritania and Suriname make big gains.
Kenya registered improved ranking, though with a small margin, moving from 102 to 101 despite being banned by FIFA from participating in all football activities back in February 2022.

FIFA suspended Kenya over government interference with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and had noted that for the suspension to be lifted the government had to repeal the decision to disband FKF.
Scotland and Azerbaijan are the most improved nations that have not qualified for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Both teams improved by five positions.
The top 10 saw one change as Italy overtaken by Spain from sixth to seventh position.
Other notable gains in the rankings were Croatia which jumped from 15 to 12, Iran from 22 to 20 and Serbia from 25 to 21.
The countries with the biggest gains from Africa include Algeria and Mauritania by four positions. Algeria is ranked 37 and Mauritania 103.
The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on December 22, 2022, after the the Qatar World Cup.
