It is said usually that behind every successful man, there is a woman, but the story is different for 1500m double Olympic Champion Faith Kipyegon Chepngetich.
Despite the instrumental role that her husband Timothy Kitum has played in her career, very little is known about him.
TeamKenya.co.ke sought to uncover more about Kipyegon’s husband who is also an elite runner.

Similar to Kipyegon, Kitum is also a top athlete who has donned the Kenyan colors on numerous occasions.
Timothy was born on November 20, 1994 in Kapsowar, Elgeyo/Marakwet County. He made his first international debut for Kenya at the 2011 IAAF World Youth Championship staged in Lille, France.
At the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships held at the Estadio Olímpico in Barcelona, Spain, Kitum crossed the finishing line in 1:44.56 to win a silver medal for Kenya.
Kitum is also a one-time world under 18 bronze medalist and IAAF world relays silver medalist.
At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he produced an extraordinary performance when he came from behind to settle for a bronze medal behind David Rudisha and Botswana international Nigel Amos.
He did so at the age of 18 and the commentators then described him as an athlete who had a promising future.
Rudisha set the current 800m world record at that event while Kitum ran a personal best time of 1:42.53 - the current under 20 national record. However, despite his London heroics, Kitum went under the radar.
