
Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan is the African player with most goals in the history of the FIFA World Cup tournament.
The 36-year-old has amassed a total of 6 goals while representing Ghana in the World Cup competition.
At the 2006 World Cup edition staged in Germany, Gyan opened his account for the Black Stars netting his first goal in their 2-0 win over Czech Republic.

The match also still lingers in the minds of many Ghanaian fans since it was the country’s maiden win at the global tournament.
In the 2010 edition staged for the first time in Africa, the powerful forward scored two goals for Ghana in their group stage matches and added another one in the quarterfinal stage.
Gyan scored a goal against Australia and Austria before bagging a vital goal that helped the West African nation to proceed to the quarterfinals.
He could have had his fourth of the campaign in the quarterfinal clash against Uruguay, however, the gods of football were against him.
Former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez blocked the ball from hitting the net in the dying moments of the game.
Gyan went on to miss the resulting penalty to deny Ghana a chance of qualifying to the semi-final for the first time ever.
Besides Gyan, some of the other top players that have registered more than two goals in the World Cup include the Cameroonian duo of Samuel Eto’o and Roger Milla as well as Senegalese international Papa Bouba Diop.
Roger Milla, who is among the oldest players to have scored a goal in the history of the tournament boasts of four goals, while Eto’o and Diop are tied at three goals a piece.
