The Kenya national baseball team's dream of making its debut at the 2022 World Cup is in limbo due to financial constraints.
The dire situation has forced the Baseball Federation of Kenya to appeal for help from the public, days before the global tournament.
“Kindly help us fund the Kenya Baseball5 national team to take part in the World Cup championship to be held in Mexico from November 7th-13th, 2022.

“Representing Kenya and the entire Africa for the first Baseball5 world cup ever to be held. They deserve a chance and support from sportsmen and well wishers through funding and donations to this national team.
“The team will highly appreciate through performance and dedication as they fly the Kenyan flag high all the way to Mexico,” read a statement from the federation.
The squad had to overcome financial obstacles to qualify for the world cup in May in a tournament that was staged in Tanzania.
This is not the first time that a Kenyan national team is seeking financial help from well wishers.
Earlier this year, both the 15s men’s rugby team (Simbas) and the volleyball queens (Malkia Strikers) experienced the same situation.
A local betting firm came to the rescue of Malkia Strikers at the eleventh hour and sponsored their preparation for the 2022 FIVB Women’s World Championship that was co-hosted by Poland and the Netherlands.
Kenya Simbas on the other hand received a sponsorship package from a local based hotel to be able to play at the world cup qualifiers that was held in France in July.
For those who are willing to help the Baseball stars to grace the world cup, they can deposit the little they have using account details shared by the federation on its social media platforms.
