Harambee Starlets players Jentrix Shikangwa and Ruth Ingotsi will be counting their losses heading to the Simba Queens' 2022 CAF Champions League as they failed to make the squad due to the team's error.

The Tanzanian giants failed to register Shikangwa and Ingotsi on time during the just concluded FIFA transfer window, making them ineligible to play.

According to Simba Queens, the two players will not be part of the 25-member team that will grace the annual competition to be staged in Morocco between Sunday, October 30, and Sunday, November 13.

Jentrix, a goal machine who has previously played for the reigning Kenya Women’s Premier League Champions Vihiga Queens, signed for the club a few weeks ago after parting ways with Turkish-based side Fatih Karagumruk.

Ingotsi, on the other hand, signed for Simba after Lakatamia FC, also a club from Turkey failed to extend his contract.

Without Shikangwa's services, Simba will depend on home girl Opa Clement to bag goals for them in their maiden Champions League appearance.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, October 25, Clement acknowledged the daunting task ahead.

"We are aware the tournament won't be easy for us, but our aim is to do our best to reach at least the semi-finals staged," she stated.

To qualify for the prestigious event, Simba Queens won all their five matches in a qualifying tournament that was held in Tanzania.

Vihiga Queens represented the East African region in 2021, but the current ban that was imposed on Kenya by FIFA made them ineligible to take part in this year's edition.
