Toni Kross received the first red card of his outstanding professional career in Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw at home to minnows Girona.

The 32-year-old was sent off by the match official after accumulating two yellow cards in a match that was filled with drama, particularly in the last 15 minutes.

Kross, who made the second foul while trying to prevent a counterattack from Girona, did not protest the decision made by the referee.

He just smiled and left the field for an early shower as the Los Blancos saw a late winner from Brazilian international Rodrygo canceled by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The World Cup-winning midfielder has played over 740 games for country and club without being sent off.
Despite playing in the midfield, the German international has just received 84 red cards in the 15 years that he has been playing in the top level.

His marching orders went viral on social media platforms with some football fans wondering how Kross managed to escape a red card for all those years.

Kross has featured for top European clubs like Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and now Real Madrid.
At the international level, he has been one of the mainstays in Germany’s midfield, helping the European nation win the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

Girona forced Real Madrid to drop points for the second time this season.

However, despite the outcome of the match, the Carlo Ancelotti-coached side is still at the top of La Liga standings, with 32 points, one more than rivals FC Barcelona.
