Former Premier League Star David Mwangi Dies

Former Kenya Premier League star, David Mwangi, succumbed to a short illness on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Ex-Kenyan international Boniface Ambani broke the sad news early in the morning.

“Hello coaches, it is with great sorrow and disbelief to announce the death of former Lanet Youth, Mathare, Nakuru All-Stars, Tusker, Sony and KRA defender David Mwangi after a very short illness.

“May he rest in peace. Dance with the angels. I just can’t believe this, quite shocking,” read a statement on his social media account.

Kenyan football stakeholders, including his former teammates, coaches and sports journalists, have sent consolation messages to the family of the late defender.

“May he rest in eternal peace, my condolences to the family during this trying moment, may God strengthen them,” read a message of condolence from a fan named Christine Isiche.

Media personality Carol Radull also mourned with the friends and loved ones of the deceased. 

“We send a message of condolences to friends and family of former Mathare United, Sony Sugar, Ushuru  and Nairobi Stima player David Mwangi. May his soul rest in peace,” she stated.

Despite his impressive career, Mwangi never got an opportunity to represent Kenya at both the youth and senior levels.
