Vihiga United chairperson Kahi Indimuli has clarified widespread claims that the Western-based side has been disbanded.
According to Indimuli, who doubles up as the chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KSSHA), the reports are hot air.
“Over the past few days, social media has been awash by allegations that Vihiga United FC had 'sold' their National Super League (NSL) slot thus being disbanded.

“As the Chairman of the Vihiga County Gov-sponsored team, I wish to dispute the rumors and confirm that the club is still intact and strong, awaiting commencement of the 2022/2023 season,” part of the statement from Kahi read.
Indimuli further added that he has not signed any deal with anyone and urged fans to get behind the team as they prepare for the season kick off.
“I have been out of the country & at no particular point have I signed any document indicating that the team has been released to anyone or disbanded.
“Let's continue supporting the team & encouraging the boys as we look forward to the kick off of the new season,” he ended.
Earlier this week, there were allegations that three NSL clubs had been sold and relocated to their new homes.
It was rumoured that Vihiga, which registered a 9th place finish last season, had been acquired by Luanda Villa.
Apart from Vihiga United, the other clubs that were reportedly sold include Dandora Love and Muhoroni Youth FC.
