Siblings Help Kenya Set New Record in Zimbabwe

Muqtadir Nimji and his younger brother Ilyaseen Nimji helped the Kenya Squash team to reach the semifinals of the 2022 All Africa Squash Championship for the first time in history.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) congratulated the Kenyan squad for the accomplishment.

“We’ve reached the semifinals of the All Africa Squash championship in Zimbabwe for the first time in history.

“The four athletes representing Kenya at the games under the stewardship of coach Prince Mukuka are James Dalidi, Muqtadir Nimji, Bruce Jusa and Ilyaseen Nimji. Congratulations team,” read a statement from the NOC-K.

In the group matches, Kenya suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of South Africa with Muqtadir losing 3-0 to Dewald Van Niekerk.

Dalidi and Bruce were also beaten 3-1 and 3-0 respectively by Matthew Boote and Damian Groenewald.

The Kenya representatives bounced back from the defeat to beat Zambia and Botswana 4-1 and 3-0 respectively.

They proceeded to the next round where they were scheduled to play Nigeria.

15 nations including Rwanda, Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa graced the event which is expected to end on Friday, November 11.

Muqtadir and Ilyaseen also have an elder sister, Kkaaliqa Nimji who is a star squash player.
