"It is alleged that the Brentford FC forward breached FA rule E8 232 times between February 25, 2017, and January 23, 2021.
"Ivan Toney has until Thursday, November 24 to provide a response,” read a statement from the governing body.
Toney’s club reacted after the announcement, stating they would provide a response after internal investigations were completed.
“Brentford FC has been informed that Ivan Toney has been charged with breaches of FA Rule E8.
“The Club has been in discussion with Ivan and his legal representatives about this matter and those conversations will continue privately. We will make no further comment until the matter has been completed,” read part of a statement from Brentford.
Ivan, who has been one of the standout players for Brentford this season, was left out of the England squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite being on form.
He scored two goals over the weekend to snatch a victory from English Premier League (EPL) defending champions Manchester City in a 2-1 thriller at the Etihad Stadium.
Toney is currently ranked third in the EPL golden boot race with 10 goals, 6 less than the top scorer, Erling Haaland.
