Various footballers came out to wish Bayern and Senegal star, Sadio Mane, a quick recovery after he underwent surgery and was ruled out of the World Cup.

Former Southampton teammate Victor Wanyama lead the line by sending a special message to his former Southampton teammate.

“It is sad that you will not be representing your country and the continent as a whole, in Qatar.

"Come back stronger bro Sadio Mané,” Wanyama’s post read.

Virgil Van Dijk, who played with Mane at Liverpool and Southampton, noted that the World Cup will miss one of the best players.

“I am very sorry that Sadio misses the match against us because this World Cup deserves the best players, and Sadio is one of them.

"Sadio is world-class, he is my friend, and I will miss him,” Van Djik noted.

Bayer Munich also revealed that the Senegalese forward underwent surgery on his leg where a tendon was reattached to the head of his right fibula.

The 30-year-old will be watching the World Cup in Munich, Germany, where he will be undergoing his injury rehabilitation.

Senegal will begin their World Cup campaign with a Group A fixture against the Netherlands on Monday, November 21.
