Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the member of parliament for Mumias East constituency, has revealed that he fulfilled a promise he made to locals regarding the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

In a statement issued on Tuesday night, December 6, Salasya disclosed that he bought a projector and television to enable his constituents to enjoy the global showpiece.

“Fulfilled my promise to purchase this for my youths and watch the World Cup with them at Shianda market.

“I have bought them a DSTV plus projector. Inaitwa vitu ndogo ndogo watu huelewa sana ground. (People appreciate the small things you do for them),”  he revealed.

The Lubinu High School alumni watched Spain versus Morocco round of 16 clash with the locals at the market.

He also urged the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Ababu Namwamba, to improve the sector.

“Football unites nations. Even young ones in my constituency understand that Morocco is from Africa.

“Ababu Namwamba please let’s invest in sports and make Harambee Stars great again,” ended Salasya.

Most of his followers who reacted to the social media post thanked him for remembering his supporters.

“Keep it up. With CDF back in the fold, kindly consider improving infrastructural development of our primary schools in Mumias East,” read a comment from Thomas Waswa.

Another user, James Mwadeghu, opined that Salasya should donate the equipment to a youth group within his constituency after the end of the tournament.

“This is good. It's very encouraging. After the World Cup you can donate it to a youth group as a money earner. They can have gigs across Mumias,” stated Mwadeghu.
