One-time Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema is likely to play for France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final scheduled for Sunday, December 18, at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
According to Marca, a Spanish media outlet, the lethal forward has resumed training with Real Madrid and is available, should France manager Didier Deschamps need his services.
Asked about the possibility of Benzema playing in the final after Les Bleus' 2-0 win over Morocco, Deschamps did not give a clear answer.

"I don't really want to answer that question. Next question. I do apologize," he was quoted by Fox Sports.
Moreover, should Benzema fail to return, and the European nation wins the trophy, he would still qualify to get a medal.
Benzema, who inspired Los Blancos to the 2022 UEFA Champions League title, was initially included in France’s 26-member squad.
However, a few days before the start of the tournament, he was ruled out after injuring his thigh during a training session.
Even though he left the team’s training camp, no one was called to replace him. Therefore, he is still part of the French squad and thus eligible to feature during the finals.
On Sunday, France will be seeking to become the second team to bag the coveted title on two consecutive occasions.
They had the last laugh during the finals of the 2018 edition staged in Russia when they hammered this year's semifinalists Croatia 4-2.
Brazil is the other country that has managed to attain that feat - they won the title at the 1958 and 1962 editions.
