Omanyala Opens up on His Position in Police After Pass Out

Commonwealth Games Champion Ferdinand Omanyala passed out Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the National Police Training College Main Campus, Kiganjo, Nyeri County. 

Speaking to TeamKenay.co.ke thereafter, Omanyala disclosed that he was currently attached to the Director of Criminals Investigations (DCI). 

Omanyala joined the National Police Service in December 2021, during the tenure of the former Inspector General, Hilary Mutyambai.

“I have Graduated as a police constable with others but the inspector rank will be enforced after because that is what I was given when I got the job in 2021. 

“Currently I am attached to the DCI,” Omanayala stated. 

He was quick to clarify that his Inspector rank is on merit and was awarded for his achievements. 

The 26-year-old Africa's 100m champion noted he trained for nine months when he was not competing in any race.  

Omanyala added that after the pass out he will represent the police in various competitions as he aims to lift the forces flag high. 

In a past interview, the fastest man in Africa noted that he joined the police to have a job after retirement.

Omanyala is currently training for the new season after ending his 2022 Athletics season in September, having finished third at the Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica, a Continental Gold Tour label race in Zagreb, Croatia.
