Sports Cabinet Secretary(CS) Ababu Namwamba has called for an infrastructure audit on ministry-invested projects.
In a meeting held at the office of the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu on Thursday evening, January 12, 2023, Namwamba instructed the AG to do a special audit on stadiums constructed in Kenya.
According to a statement by the Ministry, Namwamba's request was informed by the poor state of stadiums across the country.

“The CS requested the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) to undertake an audit on all government-funded infrastructure projects under the Ministry, to ascertain the value of government's investment in the projects with a view to exposing any mismanagement of funds in the said projects,” part of the statement read.
Namwamba is unhappy with the current state of stadiums in Kenya despite huge funding from the government.
The Auditor General, on her part, assured the Sports CS that her officers would act swiftly with the audit.
This comes just a few days after Namwamba toured Embu County for the inspections of stadia which were in deplorable conditions.
Namwmaba was irked by the fact that National Super League sides 3K and Liberty were to play a match in a poor stadium.
He noted that it was not fair for the youth to play in stadiums that are in poor conditions.
When Namwamba took over the Sports ministry, he declared that he will take a zero-tolerance approach to corruption during his tenure at the helm.
