President William Ruto instructed the Ministry of Sports to issue Ksh150 million to uplift the new Police stadium in South C Nairobi.

Speaking during the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the Kenya Police Sacco in Nairobi, Ruto announced that the new facility will serve both the police and the community at large.

The new stadium, The Kenya Police Deposit Taking National Stadium, will be home to the FKF Premier League side Police FC.

“The facility is necessary to grow expertise and sports and has already put in 89 million because you have agreed that the facility will also serve the community in South C and not just the police service.

“The Ministry of Sports will provide another 150 million to enhance the facility, like the terraces.

“I am sure we can add other facilities hear that can enhance the use of the facility in line with the community request,’ President Ruto stated.

Ruto commended the Kenya National Police Sacco for mobilising funds to develop a project as unique as a sports stadium.

President Ruto also disclosed that he found it interesting when he was informed that he would launch a stadium built by a police Sacco.

Construction of the stadium began in February 2022 and has taken close to a year to have it ready.

Police FC is fifth in the 2022/23 league standings, six points behind the league leader Nzoia Sugar.
