12-time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards have offered contract extensions to Thomas Juma and Lawrence Webo.

Juma who has been serving as the club’s team manager has also been elevated to the assistant coach’s role. He  previously served under the same capacity under then coach Rodolfo Zapata before taking charge on an interim basis when the Argentine left.

Webo on the other hand has been serving as the club’s goalkeeper coach after the departure of Matthews Ottamax.

A statement from the club read:

“AFC Leopards is delighted to announce that our coaching staff duo of Tom Juma and Lawrence Webo have extended their stay at the Club.”

“Thomas Juma begins his role of assistant coach  for one and a half years effective January 1st, 2021.”

“The goalkeeper coach, Lawrence Webo sees his contract extended  as our goalkeeper trainer till 30th June, 2022,” the club said.

44 year-old Juma had a stellar career including an appearance at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations that was held in Tunisia. He featured in all the matches that Harambee Stars played, losing 3-1 to Mali, 3-0 to Senegal and winning 3-0 to Burkina Faso.

He had stints with Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards in the mid 1990’s before heading to Sweden where he plied his trade with Mjallby IF, Friskar Viljor and the Hursqavana. He later had stints with Sofapaka in 2009 before retiring to take his coaching badges.

He is best remembered for guiding Muhoroni Youth to lifting the KPL Top 8 title in 2016, beating Gor Mahia in an entertaining final played at the Nyayo stadium.

Webo, 42, has vast experience in goalkeeping and his career tells it all. He played for AFC Leopards, Posta Rangers, Rwanda’s APR among many other clubs across the region. He has served as the goalkeeper coach for Posta Rangers, AFC Leopards, Harambee Stars and the Harambee Starlets.

The three man technical bench will try to help Ingwe who currently sit in 3rd position in the  Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) log wrestle the league title from holders Gor Mahia. The last time they won the title was way back in 1998.
