Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford will be out of action until October after deciding to have surgery on a shoulder injury.
The 23-year-old had a scan on Tuesday on the shoulder that had been nagging him for the better parts of last season.
Rashford is however not expected to undergo surgery until the end of the month(July)
The anticipated time for his absence will be around 12 weeks meaning that he will miss two months of Premier League football.
Rashford scored 11 goals in 37 Premier League appearances last season but did not make a significant impact for England at Euro 2020 and his penalty miss in the final against Italy earned him racial abuses online.
The England star made five appearances in the Euros without scoring a goal.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has had a medical at Carington ahead of a proposed £73m move to United from Borussia Dortmund..
Rashford - together with Sancho and Bukayo Saka, who also missed their spot-kicks - received racial abuse on social media after the game.
A mural of Rashford in Withington, Manchester, was also defaced after the defeat to Italy.
