Harambee Stars midfielder Kenneth Muguna has paid a glowing tribute to Gor Mahia as he prepares to start his new football journey with Tanzania Premier League side Azam FC.
Muguna is set to join the Tanzanian giants in October upon his contract expiring with Gor Mahia. The Kenya international opted not to renew his stay at K’Ogalo a club he rejoined in October 2018 after an unsuccessful stint at FK Tirana of Albania.
In a letter on his social media platforms, the former Western Stima man said he has achieved so much at the club and has decided to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
“To Gor Mahia fans, when I arrived at this great club I was just a young man with dreams of representing the biggest club in the country, I didn’t expect things to go as well as they did but you made it a lot easier for me and not to forget the high level of players with so much quality who were always there to support and make me feel comfortable,” Muguna stated.
“Looking at what I have achieved at the club is so satisfying, I was lucky enough to play under great coaches and a great management as well. Thanks to the chairman and the whole management for their effort in renewing my contract though I felt like I needed a new challenge. Thanks for the years we spent together and I hope that we enjoy the remaining matches,” added the midfielder who captained the club early this season.
Earlier this month, Muguna helped Gor Mahia clinch the Betway FKF Cup by beating arch-rivals AFC Leopards in the final, to cap what has been a remarkable career at Gor Mahia.
Junior,as he is commonly known amongst his peers, joined Gor Mahia from Western Stima in 2017, a year after being voted the Kenya Premier League Most Valuable Player. He was to win the league with Gor in his first season with the club before moving to Albania the following year to join FK Tirana. But his stay in the Eastern European country was not successful and he would rejoin K’Ogalo half-a-season later.
