Kenya Men basketball coach Liz Mills has jetted in the country ready to kick start preparations for the FIBA AfroBasketball 2021 Championships to be held in Kigali, Rwanda in August.

The Australian who made history by becoming the first lady to coach a male team to the finals of the continental championships has been away since guiding the Morans in the qualifiers in Yaounde, Cameroon  in February.

Morans beat Angola 74-73 on the buzzer to return the AfroBasket for the first time in 28 years. Their last participation was at the FIBA AfroBasket 1993 which they hosted but fell short of a spot on the podium following a 90-76 loss to Senegal in the Third-Place game.

Kenya are in  pool  in Group ‘C’ alongside Africa’s top seed and favourites Nigeria, Cote d’ Ivoire and Mali.
