The French centre-back sealed his move to Manchester United on a £50m deal. It has been a really quick deal with negotiations going on very quickly for the past four days. Just some little paperwork is left to be completed and the agreement to be fully signed by the parties involved.
Varane will sign a four-year contract which will keep him at Old Trafford till 2026. He has an option to extend it to a further one year. The deal is similar to the one that Man United offered Jadon Sancho. The Frenchman is also set to have his medical at Manchester after his transfer has been sealed.
Raphael Varane will have to follow the covid protocols and will quarantine himself while moving to England. The fans may see him wear the famous Red jersey by the end of this week.
The deal takes United's spending to well over £100m following the earlier arrival of Jadon Sancho this summer. United will be hoping Varane and Sancho can take them closer to winning their first Premier League title since 2013. Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the signing of Varane will do just that. “Well certainly Varane is a top quality player, I was really impressed with him during the Euros, he’s an excellent defender, so that will be a great signing for Manchester United,” Parlour said. Will this be the crucial signing that takes United to its sought after 'glory days'?
