The zonal CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers have been postponed again for lack of match venues.

The forthcoming World U20 athletics championships are due from the 17th to 21st of August and one of the venues, Kasarani Stadium, will be in use.

Cecafa Executive Director Auka Gecheo has said that due to the current situation, the tournament can only take place after August 24.

The initial dates had been scheduled for August 7-21, a second time of postponement.

“Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience,” added Gecheo.

After Rwanda’s Scandinavian WFC withdrew from the zonal qualifiers, the eight teams that will feature include; Lady Doves WFC (Uganda), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (Ethiopia), PVP FC (Burundi), Yei Joint Stars (South Sudan), FAD (Djibouti), Simba Queens FC (Tanzania), New Generations FC (Zanzibar) and Vihiga Queens FC (Kenya).

The winner from the CECAFA region will play in the CAF Women’s Champions League to be hosted by Egypt.
