AFC Leopards beat Ulinzi Stars claiming a 1-0 win at the Nakuru ASK Show Grounds in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League game on Thursday, August 13.
Caleb Olilo struck the only goal in the 78th minute that ensured the 13-time league champions bagged maximum points.
A few minutes after the goal, Ulinzi’s John Kago tested AFC goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan with a long-range shot but was blocked off by the Leopards defence.
Even after the water break, it was the four-time champions who continued to push for an opening goal.
In the 36th minute, Ochan, again, came to Ingwe's rescue, this time around, stopping Masita Masuta who had gone past Collins Shivachi.
During the second half, Ulinzi’s coach Fred Ogot made two substitutions in Clinton Omondi and Enos Ochieng for Masita Mosota and Mark Bikokwa respectively; however, their efforts were futile as it resulted in only a wave of attacks.
AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems stated that they are happy for the win as they prepare for their last two matches.
Ingwe’s goal had set up a tense finale with Ulinzi’s Clinton Omondi thinking he had equalised in the 80th minute, only for the assistant referee to raise an offside flag.
Ulinzi Stars played against AFC Leopards SC in 2 matches this season. Currently, Ulinzi Stars rank 10th, while AFC Leopards SC hold 4th position.
This Weekend fixtures on Saturday, August 13, include Wazito FC Vs Sofapaka at 13:00, City Stars Vs Posta Rangers at 15:00, Bandari VS Mathare United at 15:00
