Esse Akida Bids Thika Queens Farewell & Safely Arrives At PAOK FC

Esse Akida

Esse Akida finally arrived in Greece and is currently training with the Greek giants PAOK FC. The Harambee starlets international had initially signed a 1-year contract with the Greek side and was unveiled yesterday, Saturday August 14th. For the 28 year old forward, this is the second time she has completed a move to a foreign club. In 2018, she signed for Israeli side, Ramat HaSharon FC playing majorly as a full back recording 19 appearances with 4 goals and 5 assists.

Esse Akida also penned an emotional message to her former club Thika Queens via Facebook stating how grateful she was for being part of the club. "With everything now settled, I would want to take this opportunity to thank Thika Queens in a special way. This is a team that has always opened her arms for me whenever I felt I needed to be active while back at home. They have always provided me with the environment I needed to refuel, re-think, and re-evaluate myself as a player. From the chairman, the club's management, the coaches, the players, and the fans, they have always considered me their own and I don't take it for granted." She wrote.

" Its not surprising that when I made my first move abroad, it was from Thika. Even though I had not featured for them actively, they listen to my plea to pursue my professional journey and they gave me the green light. It is no surprise that my third stint abroad came from their blessings too.

I want to thank everyone associated with the club for the time we shared. The league title we won will forever remain with me. The challenges. The losses. The wins. You people gave me a reason to believe again and I'll forever be thankful to you. How I wished I could carry the entire team with me to Greece. You are all winners and I believe many of you will join these European teams because I believe all of you can. I've been there and I know your abilities. Believe me when I say you all can play in these established teams. All you have to do is to dream it's possible. As I begin this journey that you all help me to tread, I wish all of you the best in the coming season. May you bring the trophy back home because I know you are the best in the Kenya Women Premier League. Proud to be associated with the black and white jersey. You are all my queens. You'll forever be part of me."
