
German national Esther Henseleit is the winner of the four-day 2022 Kenya Ladies open whose curtains have come down at the Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi.
Henseleit successfully defended her title, staging a comeback after Swedish national Linnea Ström had taken an overnight lead coming into the final day on Sunday, February 13.
With the win, Henseleit takes home a Sh5.8 Million cash prize, handed over to her by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta who graced the occasion.
She also took home a specially designed trophy, sculptured by renowned Jerome Bruins.
Born in January 1999, Henseleit joined the German national team in 2014 at the age of 15.
She won the bronze medal at the International Women's Amateur Championship in 2016 and was nominated for the Junior Solheim Cup in 2017.

Henseleit kicked off her professional career in January 2019, a year that proved to be her breakthrough.
She finished third in the qualification rounds of the 2019 Ladies European Tour.
In December 2019, she won the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, a feat that earned her the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit and the LET Rookie of the Year.
She was also named the Player of the Year 2019 by the Professional Golfers Association of Germany as well as Hamburg's Sportswoman of the Year 2019.
According to the Ladies Professional Golf Association website, Henseleit has amassed over Sh50 Million in career earnings.

The only Kenyan golfers in the tourney, Mercy Nyanchama, Naomi Wafula, Bhavi Shah and Faith Chemutai, did not make the cut on the final day of the tournament.
The tournament, which attracted 94 golfers, is the season opener in the 2022 European Ladies Tour.
