
American Jesse Marsch has been appointed the new head coach of RB Leipzig .The 47-year-old will replace Julian Nagelsmann who was appointed as Hans Flick's replacement at Bayern Munich.
Marsch who joins RB Salzburg on July 1 has penned down a two-year contract with the club.
Marsch returns to Leipzig where he worked as an assistant coach in the 2018/19 season, helping the team to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal final.
Before then, the American coached Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls between 2015 and 2018, picking up the Coach of the Year award in 2015.
The former professional player (349 MLS appearances, 2 USA caps) won the league and cup double with Salzburg last season and could repeat that feat this campaign. The Austrian champions are in the cup final and are currently eight points clear at the top of the Championship Group. Marsch is was also the first American to coach a team in the UEFA Champions League (12 matches with Salzburg).
