
A male footballer was suspended for life on Monday, August 1, 2022, after attacking a female referee in an Argentine amateur league match.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Cristian Tirone was spotted rushing toward the official, Dalma Cortadi, hitting her on the back of the neck.
The incident happened immediately after Cortadi booked Tirone’s teammate for a foul.
“A female referee, Dalma Magali Cortadi, was hit by a male footballer in the Argentine amateur league. The incident occurred after she issued a yellow card to a Garmense player.

“Cristian Tirone, who didn't accept this, immediately hit the back of her head,” Haluan Media Group reported.
Cortadi fell to the ground after being hit but rises up and scampers to safety as match officials and players push Tirone away.

The referee was rushed to a nearby health facility where first aid was administered before she was admitted and kept under observation.
“I fell and I don’t remember anything else. When I got up I was dizzy and nauseous. Nothing like this has ever happened to me.
“We want justice to be done and that this man pays for what he did. That is what is important,” she recalled, according to a report by Fox Sports.
The footballer was arrested and charged. His club also cut off his services banning him for life.
