After a year-long wait, 25 Kenyan coaches will finally get to complete their CAF B coaching badges.

This is after their course was disrupted by the football crisis, where FIFA suspended Kenya from football activities.

The 25 coaches are the second cohort in Kenya's first-ever CAF B coaching course.

The course is run by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), which was disbanded in November 2021, by the then Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohamed.

“I am happy for these coaches. They have long waited to complete an important professional qualification that will open doors for them.

“I am also happy for Kenyan football because we have now upgraded 50 coaches to an elite level and this is crucial for us to develop tactically as a country,” FKF CEO Barry Otieno stated.

According to the FKF CEO, the original plan was to have 100 coaches trained by 2023, which was impossible due to the crisis and political interference.

Former Harambee Stars fullback George Midenyo noted that the return to the course was a big relief.

“It feels good to be back. We depend on soccer, when football stops, income stops. It’s hard to be a human being in that situation,” Midenyo noted.

FIFA lifted Kenya's suspension on November 28, 2022. However, it was unclear whether CAF would let the course resume.
