Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya commissioned the construction of an ultra-modern sports complex on Monday, February 27.
According to the Governor, the facility with a capacity of 50,000 will cost Ksh650 million.
The stadium, once complete, will have a number of facilities, including a training room and will host high profile sporting and national functions.

“This project will address infrastructure and training equipment deficiencies and provide modern training equipment to talented youths from Trans Nzoia County,” Natembeya noted.
St Antony's Boys High School and Goseta Boys played in a final before the commissioning of the project.
During the event, Natembeya, a career civil servant and a former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner awarded two teams with jerseys.
He also rewarded the teams with cash where St Antonys Boys walked away with Ksh50,000 while Goseta Boys High School received Ksh25,000.
The commissioning of project came on the backdrop of Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba’s banning construction of new stadiums across the country.
Namwamba issued the directive stopping all construction works in stadiums around the country until an audit is conducted.
