The Kenya hockey premier league is likely to begin in July according to the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) president Nahashion Randiek.
The league which has not been in action ever since the outbreak of coronavirus in Kenya last year was set to resume in April 2021 only for sporting activities to be suspended by the government again due to the surge of infections in the country.
The Hockey union had previously revealed that only the top flight league would be in action as the Super League and National League competitions still remain suspended.
According to the Hockey Union boss the union is very much ready for league take off under the strict eye of existing government Covid-19 protocols that were set to guide the conduction of sporting activities within the country.
Randiek also narrated that it would take the Union around a month to put up things in order for the league resumption and also create a room for the teams to prepare adequately ahead of the league.
The matches were to be played without fans at the stadium with the City Park facility having been lined up to host a maximum of four matches a week.
The decision by the Hockey Union to facilitate the league resumption comes after other sports federations have successfully facilitated the resumption of their various sports such as FKF who have flagged off the resumption of the FKF Premier League as well as Kenya Rugby Union who are set to resume games this month.
