After getting their main man Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea have completed the sale of yet another striker, this time being Tammy Abraham. Abraham has joined the Italian side in a €40 million deal that spans for 5 years (2026). Chelsea will have a buy-back clause worth €80 million to re-sign the 23-year-old English forward, which will be valid from June 2023. The forward is leaving Chelsea after a 17-year stint at the club, having joined the club’s famed academy in 2004.
"I've had the experience of winning major trophies and I want to be in those competitions again, so I want to help this team to achieve that and get to the level where Roma should be. It’s a massive honour to be the No. 9 at this club and I just can’t wait to get started and to help the team." Said Tammy.
In the summer of 2019, Frank Lampard incorporated Abraham into the first-team set-up at Chelsea and the academy graduate rewarded that faith by scoring 18 goals during the 2019/20 season. Last season, the 23-year-old struck 12 goals but his game time was limited after the appointment of Thomas Tuchel in January. Abraham played only 17 minutes during the final three months of the campaign, partly due to an ankle injury and was also omitted from the matchday squad for the Champions League final. Abraham is now set to revive his career at Serie A and hope for a blissful spell in Italy.
