The second edition of the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour meet will take place on September 18 at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani stadium.

The event which is the only leg of the Continental Tour Gold had been moved from the Nyayo National Stadium which held the event last year.

While addressing journalists at Kasarani on Friday, race director Barnaba Korir stated the reason as to why they’ve changed the venues.

“We intend to retain some implements which we are using in the ongoing World Under 20 Championships. That’s why we decided to have the event at Kasarani.”

At the same time, Korir said the organisers were still in talks with the government to allow upto 20,000 fans to Kasarani Stadium for the event.

“We have put in place all Covid-19 containment measures as required by the Ministry of Health,”Stated Korir.

Olympic 3000m steeplechase champions Soufiane El Bakkali will be amongst other elite runners expected to compete at the meet.

“We expect a huge field of athletes from across the world to attend the event. More athletes will confirm their participation after the Eugene Diamond League leg this weekend,” said the meet director.

The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold is the second most prestigious athletics event in the World Athletics calendar after the Diamond League.
