The Harambee Stars squad has been revised and updated ahead of the World Cup Qualifier matches that are slated to begin on 2nd September. Kenya will be facing Uganda with a squad that had 8 players dropped by Head coach, Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee. Ghost Mulee will work with a 28-man squad as opposed to the initial 36-man ahead of the Uganda and Rwanda clashes.
The eight players dropped from the squad include KCB’s centre back Nashon Alemi, his clubmate Baraka Badi, Wazito’s top scorer last season Kevin Kimani, Gor Mahia trio of Benson Omala, Samuel Onyango and Clifton Miheso. The rest are AFC Leopards defender Clyde Senaji who is being pursued by league champions Tusker FC and the maligned Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper Brandon Obiero.
Defender Alembi's withdrawal from the national side has come at a time when Joseph Okumu of KAA Gent is expected to arrive and join teammates. He is an outright preferred choice to play at centre-back. Meanwhile, Ayub Timbe, Victor Wanyama, Johana Omollo, Joash Onyango, and Jesse Were are the high-profile players who were not considered for the World Cup Qualifier.
