
19 players have been named for the Volleyball Africa Nations Cup set to be held in Kigali, Rwanda from 10th to 20th September. The squad is currently in camp whereas head coach, Paul Bitok and his assistants Josp Barasa and Japheth Munala have made seven additions to the team that did duty at the Tokyo Olympics with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) duo of hard-hitting Veronica Adhiambo and setter Josphine Wafula among the seven.
Kenya Pipeline setter, Esther Mutinda who was part of the provisional squad named in April as the team began preparations for the Summer Games but opted out of the team has received another call up. Her teammate, Pamela Adhiambo who was among the last two players to be dropped out of the Tokyo squad is back in the team but KCB's Emmaculate Nekesa who was also part of the team before they travelled to Kurume for pre-Games camp did not make the team.
Experienced libero, Elizabeth Wanyama, who was also part of the Summer Olympics provisional squad but did not make the final 12 is back in the team. The team will be hoping to continue their dominance in the continent where they are expected to renew rivalry with among other teams Cameroon and Egypt. The Championships has 20 men's teams and 16 women's teams already confirmed.
