Sergio Ramos is yet to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain. The highly renowned centre-back was signed by the French outfit on a free transfer from Real Madrid in the summer, but has been injured ever since his arrival.

Now it seems those in charge at PSG are losing their optimism with regards to the World Cup winner's future at the club. PSG now believe that signing the 35-year-old was something of a mistake and it cannot be ruled out that they will look to offload him before he's kicked a ball for the club in a competitive setting.

Several knee and calf issues have been identified by the club's medical team, hence why the Spaniard has been condemned to the treatment table for so long. Prior to joining PSG, Ramos had played just four competitive matches all year. His final season at Real Madrid was blighted by injury and it's sadly starting to look very likely that we will never see anything close to the best version of the legendary defender on the pitch again.

Ramos, who is supposed to train with the entire PSG squad this week, still has no concrete return to action date as he struggles to battle the persistent injury in his soleus muscle. To terminate Ramos' contract, however, PSG will have to reach an agreement with the Spanish centre-back, whose current deal with the French side runs until 2023. His contract reportedly earns him a whopping €24million (Ksh 3Billion) over the course of two years.

The fiery centre-back is one of the great footballing leaders in modern team times and helped Real Madrid win four Champions League trophies in the space of five years. He was also a key member of the Spain squad that won three major international tournaments on the trot.

Like Ramos, Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Georginio Wijnaldum all arrived for free after their contracts expired with their respective clubs, while PSG also beat Chelsea to the signing of wing-back Achraf Hakimi from Inter in a deal worth £60m. Ramos' arrival was seen as a coup by the club as they finally bid to end their wait for European glory under Mauricio Pochettino this term. The Spanish international's were just one of an influx of expensive new arrivals.

Messi was hooked off at half time during PSG's 2-1 victory over last season's Lige 1 champions, Lille, and is still yet to find the net for his new side in the league this term. PSG are sticking by their new man despite his struggles in adapting to French football - although the same cannot be said for Ramos. Although the club released a statement issuing a positive update on Ramos' potential return as recently as last week, the controversial defender has already been slated by the French press due to his unavailability.

Iconic French newspaper L'Equipe mocked Ramos' fitness problems in a recent video, labelling him a 'ghost' due to his distinct lack of football so far. All signs seem to be pointing towards an acrimonious early exit for Ramos - something which seemed unthinkable when he was penning his mega-money deal just months ago.
