Despite currently being embattled and Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed forming a caretaker committee to run the game in the country, Football Kenya Federation have continued with their activities.
On Monday and Tuesday, Federation officials officially opened a 10-day CAF D coaching course in Buruburu and Mathare respectively.
Each of the two coaching courses targets 40 coaches each.
FKF Nairobi East Secretary-General Dickson Doyo presided over the opening ceremony at the Buruburu Sports Academy on Tuesday while he was joined by FKF Secretary General Barry Otieno in officiating the opening of the course at MYSA.
They are under the tutelage of FIFA/FKF instructors George Mwangi and Zedekiah Otieno who will teach them the basics of coaching and essential life skills.
“With these coaching courses, we have been able to see a positive change in the skills showcased by the players in the grassroot level. This steady improvement in the quality of football is what we as a Federation are aiming to achieve in the long term,” said Doyo.
At the moment, there has been no clear path under which the Secretariat appointed by CS Amina will work. The preparation and implementation of plans for the Harambee Stars match was done by the FKF Match Organizing Committee.
They are also expected to do the same for the CAF Confederation Cup matches pitting Tusker FC and Gor Mahia FC.
