Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee have announced the resumption of the Kenya Womens Premier League.

The FKF Caretaker Committee suspended the FKF Premier League Matches on the 12th of November as a result of the ouster of the former FKF offices.

In a letter dated December 3, the committee announced that the women’s premier league game and the Division 1 women league games will proceed, with all logistics already in place.

“The committee has since held a meeting with women football clubs on 2nd of December 2021 and resolved that: The women’s premier league games resume on 18th December 2021 and Div 1 women league games will resume on 8th January 2022.” the letter read.

The women's league was earlier set to start on November 13 before everything stalled following the suspension of FKF former president Nick Mwendwa three weeks ago.

This announcement follows a notice by the committee that match officials in both the women’s premier league game and the Division 1 women league will be paid on Wednesdays and Thursdays by the caretaker committee.

Thika Queens are the 2021 Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League champions as the new season kickstarts.

The win ended their five-year drought as they bagged their second Premier League title since they were last crowned victors in 2016.

Thika Queens striker Mwanahalima 'Dogo' Adam was named the Best Player of the Season. She also bagged the Golden Boot after finishing as the top scorer with 21 goals.
