Tension and sadness filled most part of the vicinity at Obera Boys Secondary School in Ndhiwa Sub-county on Sunday December 5th after a form three student died while playing football with his schoolmates.
Upon learning of the death of their colleague, students at the institution went on a rampage destroying property.
The protest was later contained after security officers from Magina Police Post were called to quell the tension.
According to witnesses, the deceased was among students playing football within the school compound when he collapsed after hitting the ball with his head.
Fellow students are said to have tried performing first aid on him before rushing him to the school administration building.
Central Kabuoch Location Chief Capis Olala said the students raised alarm and they tried to find a means to take him to hospital but there was a delay as a vehicle could not be readily found.
“I’m aware that the school has contracted a local resident who owns a car to offer transport services during emergencies. Unfortunately, he was not near when he was called,” the administrator said.
Teachers had to look for alternative means of taking the injured student to hospital.
The deceased was pronounced dead at Samari Medical centre in Rodi Kopany.
