Brendan Rodgers admitted to being unaware of the Conference League after his side finished third in their group falling into Europe's new third-tier contest.

Leicester 3-2 loss to Napoli at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Thursday, December 9.

The 3-2 at Napoli, and a win by Spartak Moscow's 1-0 over Legia Warsaw in the other game in Group C, meant Leicester finished in third place.

Leicester will now head to a play-off round to enter UEFA Europa Conference league in February, which came as a surprise to Rodgers.

"I have to be honest, I don't even know what the competition is in all fairness. I was focused on the Europa League and winning this group, at the very least, finishing second."

"So with all due respect to the competition, I'm not sure what it is. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough," Rodgers stated.

The UEFA Europa Conference League is the third UEFA club competition and runs alongside the Champions League and the Europa League.

Leicester continues with their poor form having lost four of their last six matches across all competitions.

Leicester's  head coach also noted that his team shows a lot of naivety in his team after their Europa League loss to Napoli.

"I think there's a lot of naivety in our team and we've got a lot of young players. There's been a bigger demand from them this season, and we've played a number of different systems and shapes. Individually it then comes down to having that mentality to track our runner or to stop a cross,” Rodgers added.
