Mason Greenwood has been hit with another blow after Manchester United announced they would not offer him any legal counsel.

Following his recent arrest over assault suspicion, Manchester United will not assist the embattled England forward with legal representation.

With investigations underway, Greenwood has been forced to source for his personal legal counsel.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday, January 30, and did not join his teammates as they went for training at Carrington.

Manchester United on January 31, announced that the forward would not feature or train for the club until further notice.

Previously the club has offered legal help to its players. Manchester United’s captain Harry Maguire was provided with legal support after he was arrested in Greece in August 2020 over assault claims.

The entire United’s squad members and the club’s social media platforms have unfollowed Greenwood.

The leaked social media posts alleging that Greenwood assaulted a woman were removed online a few hours after they surfaced with the father's victim stating that his daughter's social media had been hacked.

In 2020 Greenwood was sent home by England's coach Gareth Southgate after he and team-mate Phil Foden, broke the set rules by sneaking two outsiders into the team hotel.

Southgate noted that Greenwood would not play for England until 2022 when he later withdrew himself for the Euros after getting an injury.
